Illustrated by the artist Timi Hayek, the ancient and mythical Phoenix is associated with the rising sun and fire. This majestic firebird lives for hundreds of years, filling the air with heavenly music, until it bursts into flames and is reborn from the ashes. This timeless symbolism of death and resurrection parallels with the history of Lebanon, a never ending cycle of destruction and rebirth. The symbology of the Phoenix is also closely tied to the Phoenicians. The Greeks once called the Canaanites the Phoenikes or Phoenicians, which is derived from the Greek word 'Phoenix', meaning crimson or purple. The mythical Phoenix signifies eternal life, destruction, creation and new beginnings. A short description of the Phoenix is written on the tag of the scarf.
