Coming from Swiss-Lebanese origins, Amanda Dufour left her hometown of Beirut after high school to pursue a dance career in London. Over the years, she has performed around the world with many prestigious companies and artists.
This urge to communicate creatively led to poetry, where she deals with themes of personal identity and displacement, drawing inspiration from her own experiences and background.
In 2018, a selection of Amanda’s poems was published in ‘And We Chose Everything’, an anthology by Turning Point Books in Lebanon and in 2020, her first book ‘Local Foreigner’ was published by New Generation Publishing. This latest work is a collection of poems searching for home, exploring the boundaries set by nationality and the struggle to move beyond them in an area defined by past and present conflict.
