Adra Kandil is a female visual artist based in Beirut. Her artistic inclination began on a trip to Barcelona where she received a degree in advertising and master's degree in innovation for design. She combines nostalgic images with culturally relevant cues. The result is a visual commentary on modern-day issues. Her aesthetic contrasts retro vibes with bright pop-colours, and modern typography, aiming to provide a visual representation of our struggle as a generation. Her work is a recollection of memories in the Middle East; a juxtaposition of photographs that express her relationship with her home, explore her childhood, and her constant search for identity as a woman being brought up in a country of constant turmoil and conflict. She addresses issues related to culture, gender equality, social and political change in the Middle East.
